Privacy notice for our waitlist
Last updated: 24 October 2026
This notice explains how we use the details you give us when you join the Change My Name UK waitlist. It covers the waitlist only. We'll publish a full privacy notice before the service launches.
Who we are
Change My Name UK is a trading name of Paperlight Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number to be added), which is the data controller for your information. ICO registration number: to be added. You can contact us at hello@changemynameuk.com.
What we collect
- Your email address.
- Your wedding date, if you choose to give it.
- Basic technical data our hosting provider records when you submit the form, such as the time of submission and your IP address, which is used to block spam.
We don't use tracking or advertising cookies on this site.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use your details to tell you when the service launches, send your early-bird offer, and, if you gave your wedding date, time our emails around it. We rely on your consent, which you give by joining the waitlist. You can withdraw it at any time by replying "unsubscribe" to any email or emailing us.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your details or share them for anyone else's marketing. We use these service providers to run the waitlist:
| Provider | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify, Inc. | Hosts this website and stores waitlist form submissions | United States |
Where your data is processed outside the UK, it's protected by the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your details until you unsubscribe, or for up to 12 months after the service launches if you haven't become a customer, whichever is sooner. Then we delete them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy to move elsewhere. Email us and we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
